After trading places on the lead early on in the race, Red Right Hand and harness racing driver Scott Zeron took command for good in capturing the $39,000 Open Handicap Pace at Yonkers Raceway Monday evening.
The 10th race feature began with Funatthebeach (Jordan Stratton) getting parked to the opening quarter mile in :27.4 by Red Right Hand and once Funatthebeach got to the front, Zeron came right back to take the lead again with Red Right Hand.
As they came to the half mile marker in :57.2, race favorite Tattoo Artist (Dexter Dunn) started up first-over and came after Red Right Hand, who was able to hold off Tattoo Artist through the three-quarters in 1:25.3.
Looking for Tattoo Artist to come back in the stretch, it was Red Right Hanover who was the strongest on the lead, going on to win by one and one-quarter lengths over Tattoo Artist in 1:53 with Funatthebeach third.
RED RIGHT HAND REPLAY
It was the fourth win in just six starts this year for Red Right Hand. The four-year-old stallion by Captaintreacherous is trained by Nancy Takter and co-owned by Takter with her mom, Christina Takter, JAF Racing and Joe Sbrocco. Sent off at odds of 4-1, Red Right Hand paid $10.00 to win.
