BERLIN, Md. — Darren Ferrell’s Bet On Buter (Huntsville) turned a massive middle move into a decisive 1:54.1 victory in Thursday’s (Aug. 15) featured harness racing event at Ocean Downs, an $8,500 top-level conditioned pace.
William Carter settled Bet On Buter in fourth early as Catchmeonthebeach controlled a :57 first half from the pole. Heading into the second lap, Bet On Buter began his first-over ascent, and the 4-year-old gelding surged clear up the backstretch before evading the late-closing Babes All In by 5-3/4 lengths. Manaccount saved third after being shuffled mildly on the far turn.
Bet On Buter, a 15-time winner in his career, won for the seventh time this season and his fourth time in six starts at the current Ocean meet. As the 9-5 second choice, he paid $5.80 to win.
