America’s premier amateur harness racing driving series, the North American Amateur Drivers Association (NAADA), is happy to announce that it has recently made two donations totaling $5,000 to important charitable causes.
A $2,500 contribution is being made to Purple Haze Standardbred Adoption Program, a New York-based 501(c)3 organization whose purpose is to ensure that retired Standardbred horses find a second career after racing.
Thanks to founder Wanda Polisseni, herself a noted Standardbred owner possessing deep concern about animal welfare, countless racehorses have been rescued through rehabilitation and retraining.
“Purple Haze offers a humane alternative to slaughter and is accredited by the umbrella group Standardbred Transition Alliance (STA). Purple Haze enjoys wide support among the NAADA membership of amateur drivers”, said NAADA founder, Joe Faraldo. This donation was specifically suggested by NAADA member Charlie Longo.
A second $2,500 donation is being made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, a legendary institution committed to excellence in pediatric care and research for over 100 years. This donation was suggested by NAADA Vice President Alan Schwartz.
NAADA membership dues and the five percent (5%) purse allocation received by its drivers accounts for numerous charitable contributions made on a continuing basis.
