FREEHOLD, N.J.— Mike Polansky persevered through a first-over trip behind My Big Kadillac (Kadabra) to land the winning spoils in the $9,000 American Harness Drivers Club (AHDC) Trot at Freehold Raceway on Saturday (March 24).
Polansky floated out of post 4 to race fourth with 7-1 My Big Kadillac as Campbellini (driven by Dante Scattolini) pushed from post 5 for the front to a :29.2 first quarter. As the tempo slowed to a 1:00.1 half, Polansky edged My Big Kadillac off the pylons and began an uncovered grind after Campellini through the second circuit.
Campbellini maintained a slim lead while My Big Kadillac kept pressure consistent to three-quarters in 1:30.1 and the pair remained embroiled in battle spinning for home. My Big Kadillac kept fighting through the lane and managed to edge a half a length in front of Campbellini at the beam to score the victory in a 2:00.4 mile. Shoemaker Hanover (John Calabrese) rallied from off the speed to take third and Ghibli (Anthony Verruso) rode a pocket trip to take fourth.
Mike Polansky owns and trains My Big Kadillac, a 10-year-old gelding, who paid $17.80 to win.
