Late surge gets Open victory for Risenshine Seaside

WASHINGTON, PA, April 13, 2024 — Risenshine Seaside (Downbytheseaside-Vivid Shine) surged near the wire to win his harness racing stretch duel with Liteningonthebeach . . . and Saturday’s $19,200 Open Handicap Pace at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

The 3-5 favorite, Risenshine Seaside was content to stalk Liteningonthebeach from the pocket. When Ronnie Wrenn, Jr. asked him for pace at the top of the lane, the 5-year-old gelding had just enough to edge Liteningonthebeach by x in 1:51.2. Whitecookie was a ground-saving third.

Ron Burke trains Risenshine Seaside, who boosted his career earnings to $315,193, for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and Phillip Collura.

Hunter Myers piloted three winners on the 12-race card.
