Meadows feature to a game Rocks Shining Star

WASHINGTON, PA, Aug. 3, 2024 — Rocks Shining Star (Rockin Image-Bikini Star) vaulted three wide through the final turn and was strongest in the lane as he captured Saturday’s $19,200 Open Handicap Pace at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

Rocks Shining Star followed the first-over cover of Chief Mate, but even when he shed that cover and moved three wide, his work wasn’t done. The 5-year-old gelding still needed to hold off the even wider challenge of HP Momentum — which he did, downing him by 1/2 length for Anthony MacDonald in 1:51.3. American Fling shot the Lightning Lane for show.

Tim Twaddle trains the winner, who boosted his career bankroll to $247,980, for TheStable Rocksshiningstar Group.

Brady Brown piloted three winners on the 12-race card. Thunderstorms that rendered the track unsafe forced the cancellation of race 13. the final scheduled event on the program. Live racing at The Meadows resumes Wednesday, first post 12:45 PM.

During race 12 at The Meadows on Saturday evening, a heavy rainstorm moved through the area.  Race 13 on the program was canceled as the drivers deemed the racing surface unsafe and refused to drive.
