Roll With Fred capitalized on a ground-saving trip for his second straight win on Tuesday in the Monticello Raceway harness racing feature pace.
Starting from the inside, Michael Merton secured the pocket spot for the gelding as the favoured Epaulette A (Bruce Aldrich Jr.) swooped in to take the early lead. The latter paced the quarter in :28.2, half in :58, and three-quarters in 1:26.3 without seeing an opponent to his outside.
Roll With Fred utilized the passing lane as they turned into the lane and made marginal initial gains on the leader, but the gelding produced a final push approaching the wire and got up to win in 1:55.4. Epaullette A was beaten by a head. Wild West (Braxten Boyd) held third after slogging first-over from the half.
