HARNESS RACING SCHEDULE for the week
We remain in our winter 3-day-per-week racing schedule, Wednesday through Friday afternoons at 12:45. This schedule will remain in place through the end of March.
BURKE IN THE BIKE
Ron Burke is well known as one of the busiest trainers in the sport, but this Wednesday at The Meadows he will make a rare appearance as a driver. He will sit behind Rose Run Yorick (What The Hill) in the second race, a NW1 for trotters. Rose Run Yorick was a $160,000 yearling, a colt out of the Credit Winner mare She’s Nutz.
The colt will be making his career debut, showing five qualifying lines dating back to last fall. He made breaks in two February qualifiers this year before finishing second with Burke driving on February 28, timed in 2:02.4.
SERIES FINALS THIS WEEK
Race 9 on Wednesday will be the final of the Donna Dunn Memorial Trotting Series, the first of the late closer finals of the season. Beth Dutton, a Racing Hill 4YO mare, is the 7-5 favorite. Other series finals will take place on Thursday and Friday.
DOUBLE DUTTONS
Speaking of Beth Dutton, the mare named after the character on the TV series Yellowstone, she wasn’t the only winner last week with a name tied to the series. Beth Dutton was a winner on March 15, and the next day, a colt trotter named John Dutton was a winner at The Meadows. John Dutton’s character is the father of Beth Dutton in the popular series. While the two horses share no blood relation, there is a tie to Ohio horseman Johnny Yoder. Yoder trains Beth Dutton, and is a part-owner of John Dutton, trained in the Ron Burke Stable.
