Rose Run Uriah, who had beaten the $30,000 to $35,000 claimers in his previous starts, toppled the field in the Blue Hen/ Open Handicap Pace at Dover Downs on Thursday night.
Rose Run Uriah left alertly and led the field to the quarter in a blistering 25.4. The 7/5 betting race favorite, Island Of The Sea and driver Tim Tetrick attacked early. They sprinted to the lead past the quarter. Rose Run Uriah yielded and accepted the pocket. Island Of The Sea continued to lead the field to the half in 54 (28.1).
Mack moved to the outside past the half from 4th place and raced first-over. His bid stalled nearing the 3/4 pole as did the outer flow. Island Of The Sea continued to lead to the three quarters in 1:21.4 (27.4).
Rose Run Uriah and driver Pat Berry angled off the rail and with an eighth of a mile remaining, powered by the pace setter Island Of The Sea and won by a neck in 1:50. They paid $19.20 to win
