Grove City, Ohio – If not for a break in the first turn of her first race, Rose Run Yolanda (Triumphant Caviar) might have had the perfect freshman harness racing campaign. The filly rallied to finish second then won the rest of her races on the way to winning the Ohio Triple Crown and being named the 2-Year-Old Trotting Filly of the Year.
Owned by Greg Luther Racing and bred by Rose Run Farm, Rose Run Yolanda won six of seven races and earned $290,528. Her wins included three legs of the Ohio Sires Stakes, and the three races that comprise the Ohio Triple Crown, the Ohio State Fair Stakes, the Ohio Breeders Championship, and the Ohio Sires Stakes final.
Luther said it was phenomenal to win not only the Sires Stakes final, but also the Triple Crown.
Luther’s brother Todd trains Rose Run Yolanda and he said horses like this don’t come around too often. “She made a little break at the beginning of her first race, but came back to be second, I knew we had something pretty special.”
Rose Run Yolanda will be honored at the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association Annual Awards Banquet January 14, 2023, at the Hilton Columbus-Polaris in Columbus, Ohio.
The 2022 Ohio Horse of the Year will be announced at the annual awards banquet.
