Jonathan Roberts won four races on the Sunday night card at Rosecroft Raceway, including the featured $12,000 Open with Starship in 1:51.3.
The five-year-old gelded son of Captaintreacherous, was on the board in 27 of 41 starts last year but lacked the consistent pop in the Open ranks of his stablemate Rocktavius. Last night, Roberts sent his charge to the front after the opening quarter and turned it into a rout, winning by 7 1/2 half lengths and paid a handsome $11.80 in the process.
Roberts four wins came for his father and trainer Bib Roberts, who sent Capital Builder ($10.20), Rocktavius ($2.20) and Buckeye N ($2.60) to the winner’s circle.
John Wagner won twice on the night as Ideal Perfect Ten ($4.80) and Try Line ($14.60) found the finish line first. For Try Line, it was his third straight win since arriving in the Eric Foster barn.
Driver Ricky Still won twice for Jason Walters with Brady To Gronk ($12.20) and Owen ($3.40). Trainer Darren Olsen had two wins on the night as his son Cole drove Fox Valley Mondo ($40.40) to a win and Barton Dalious scored with Volley Ball Beach ($3.20).
