Starship (Captaintreacherous) and harness racing driver Jason Thompson took the lead past the opening quarter and sprinted away from six rivals to win the $15,500 Maryland Open on Thursday night (Oct. 20) at Rosecroft.

Starship won for the ninth time this year, stopping the clock in 1:51.2. It was one of three wins for Thompson on the card and one of three for owner-trainer Bib Roberts.
STARSHIP REPLAY
Montrell Teague and Virgo (Always A Virgin) surged past the field in 1:51, last quarter in 27.2 for owner-trainer Dylan Davis, Howard Taylor and Jeff Billings to tale the Three and Four Year old Open for $15,000.
Jonathan Roberts won three races on the night while John Wagner won twice.
