Driver’s feast on competition at Rosecroft

As the Thanksgiving Holiday was rapidly approaching, harness racing drivers Jonathan Roberts, Russell Foster, and Roger Plante feasted on the competition at Rosecroft Raceway Wednesday night. Roberts and Foster won four times on the 13-race card, while Plante got his picture taken with three winners.

Roberts won twice for trainer Michael Hall, winning with Eyes Dont Lie ($2.10), and U Thin Eyes ($10.20). Roberts also found the light of the wire first with Winter Games ($3.60) for his Dad, Bib Roberts, and Barley ($6.40) for the Graham Grace Stables. Both are trained by his sister, Megan. Coming into Wednesday night, Roberts had been in the money in 52% of his last 527 drives.

Foster, in the money in 46% of his last 507 drives, won with two for trainer Brittany Bounds as Ashton’s Artillery ($2.60) and Auntmillysmartini ($2.80) found the winner’s circle. For the latter, it was her tenth win of the year, but first since October 6th.

Foster guided Studio City ($5.60), a 12-year-old trotter, to his 38th lifetime win. Now in the barn of Amanda Malone, The Conway Hall gelding eased up the passing lane to defeat Busy Doing Nothing who was busy first over, wearing down pace setter, Believe In Him. Foster won with Dw’sblissfulthinkn ($4.20) for trainer Jeff Stafford.

Coming off two, third place finishes, Plante and Sheryl’s She Shed ($8.40) would go by a stubborn Shut The Door to cop the opener for trainer Ken Schlotzhauer. Sweet N Toxic ($6.20) would use the passing lane to victory for Plante in Race 5 for trainer Clyde Oglesby, and in the very next race, Plante would give Schlotzhauer a training-double, winning with I Say No More ($7.20).

Luke Hanners took the featured Mares Open with the three-year old pacing filly, Classicist. Taking command past the quarter pole in :26.1, she held off a game Jackie’s Express by three quarters of a length in 1:52 returning $2.40 for trainer Tahnee Camilleri.

Eric Davis had the other win on the card with Ohhloooookatchuuuu ($13.00) for trainer Janet Davis.
