Ocean City, MD – Ocean Downs hosted two splits each for three year old pacing colts and geldings and trotting fillies in the Maryland Sire Stakes on Friday July 31st.
The first division for pacing colts and geldings opened the card with a gate to wire victory for Nvrfearlloydishere (Rusty's All In) in 1:54.2. Eddie Davis Jr. was in the bike for trainer Arlene Cameron and owner-breeder Pam Wagner. Tough Old Hickory (Rusty's For Real) racing for the Estate of well-known local horseman Dale Massey got up for the place spot.
Trotting fillies took the stage in race 2. Reinsman Victor Kirby sent Goodygoodytwoshoes (GooGoo GaaGaa) flying out of the gate from the outside to take control in the 30 second first quarter, holding off the inconsistent Gooreatness (GooGoo GaaGaa) in the stretch, stopping the clock in 2:00.3. Arlene Cameron owns and trains the winner, Ashley Lynn Rodeheaver was the breeder.
Trainer Arlene Cameron picked up her third training win of the night in the second split for pacing colts and geldings. Driver John Wagner put Toms All In (Rusty's All In) in the pocket until the head of the stretch when he ducked in the passing lane to nip Who's That Rascal (Rusty's For Real) in the last few strides of the 1:56 mile. Pam Wagner is the owner and co-breeder with Clarissa Coughlin.
Race 5, the final stake of the night was the second division of the trotting fillies. The Mike Hall trained Grey (Charlie De Vie) took the lead by the half and fought off the strong challenge of Cate's A Keeper (Lockkeeper) in the last quarter. Time of the mile was 2:00.2. Mike Hall co-owns with owner/breeders LA Express Stable and CTC Stable, Allan Davis was between the wheels.
