Monticello, NY— Rozewood (Whosurboy, Thomas Merton) won the $6,000 harness racing Au Revoir pace for fourteen-year-olds at Monticello Raceway on Thursday afternoon (Dec. 14).
Rozewood left the gate first, followed by Penney’s Spirit (McKenzie Sowers) in second. As they made their way around the first turn, Southern Swan (Jim Taggart Jr) rushed to the front from the outside, stealing the lead. They passed the first quarter mile in :29.1.
As they approached the half mile in :59, Southern Swan had the lead. From the outside, Penney’s Spirit moved to take the second-place position from Rozewood.
As they came to the three-quarter mile in 1:28.2, Southern Swan was on top, followed by Rozewood in second. Penney’s Spirit and Coach Cal (Michael Merton) were in a battle for third. Coach Cal won the battle and moved to challenge Rozewood for second. From the inside, All About Rusty (Adam Moeykens) rushed up, looking to gain some ground.
Rozewood crossed the wire first in 1:59.1, followed closely by Southern Swan. All About Rusty finished in third.

Rozewood is a 14-year-old gelding owned and trained by Tiffany Barrett. He paid $18.00 to win.
Michael Merton, Mcgwire Sowers, and Cory Stratton had driving doubles.
