The Sunday night (June 27) harness racing program at Running Aces saw another huge performance from Rush To The Bank (Nick Roland, $2.20) and he was once again the talk of the tote-board in the $12,500 male division of the Minnesota-Sired sophomore trot and he did not disappoint.
The star son of Banker Volo rallied from fourth in the final quarter mile to surge past his rivals and draw away late in 1:59.1 for his twelfth consecutive win and a new career mark.Ā Rush To The Bank is now unbeaten in five starts in 2021.
RUSH TO THE BANK REPLAY
Ice Titan (Mooney Svendsen) was a game second and Hide Your Banker (Luke Plano) posted a career best effort for third. The winner is owned by Jeralene Roland and Vickie Rush, and is trained by Dan Roland.
There was also a new track record performance for four year old trotting mares on Sunday, as Susie’s Sister registered a 1:54.3 victory by a head over Pridecrest inĀ the $12,000 Open handicap trot to lower the previous mark (1:55) which was set in 2017 by her full sister (My Little Susie).
Brady Jenson was the winning pilot for the record mile, getting his charge away quickly from post four in the five horse affair and working hard to take the lead from Pridecrest (Mooney Svendsen) near the (:28.2) quarter mile. Susie’s Sister enjoyed a comfortable lead through the middle stages of the race (:57.2 and 1:26.2) but was confronted on the far turn by stablemate Hearduwhispermynam (Nick Roland) who came first-over from fourth.
Susie’s Sister was able to dig in gamely and fend off that challenge, while Pridecrest was getting revved up in the pocket. As they straightened for the wire Susie’s Sister ($8.40) had to brace for the late charge from Pridecrest in the passing lane, and she again responded gamely to keep a head in front in a thrilling finish to score the record win. It was the sixth victory on the season and 21st career win for the daughter of Claudius Augustus, who has now earned $154,991. The winner is owned by Lynchris, LLC, and is trained by Jenni King.
SUSIE’S SISTER REPLAY
Coatofmanycolors dominated the $12,500 Filly Trot with a gate-to-wire performance in a very sharp 1:57.4 mile, checking in 2-3/4 lengths ahead of The Royal Queen (Rick Magee) and It’s So Fluffy (Luke Plano).
Coatofmanycolors (Nick Roland, $2.80) is a three year old daughter of Tymal Templar and she has now won 3 races in a row and five out of ten career starts.
Nick Roland led the Sunday program with his fifth consecutive driving Hat-Trick performance, while both Roland and Jenni King registered training doubles on the card.
Live Racing returns to Running Aces on Tuesday (June 29) with first post at 6:05 pm (CDT) and will feature a carryover of $25,521.24 in the Pick-5 Jackpot wager.
