In what can be considered a tune-up for the NYSS Finals to be run at Tioga next Saturday (September 10), Joviality S (Chapter Seven) and harness racing driver Brian Sears captured the $121,900 New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) leg for 3-year-old trotting fillies on Saturday (September 3).
Pure Countess (Wally Hennessey) was first to the quarter in :27.0.Ā Ā Cash Infusion (Tyler Buter) went on by to take over with a lap to go and was first to the half in :56.0.Ā Ā Valentina Blu (Joe Bongiorno) came first-up down the backstretch as Joviality S ($2.30) followed second-over.Ā Ā Valentina Blu was first to three-quarters in 1:23.3.
Joviality S made her move as they made the turn for home.Ā Ā Valentina Blu dug in and gave everything she had but Joviality S surged by in deep stretch to win in 1:51.3 by one length.Ā Ā Valentina Blue had to settle for second money.Ā Ā Sheās A Scorcher (Jim Taggert Jr.) finished third.
Joviality S is a 3-year-old filly owned by Courant Inc. and trained by Marcus Melander.Ā Ā She now has eight wins this season and 17 career victories in just 22 career starts.
