Sea Can handles sloppy track in Invitational

Sea Can (Muscle Mass) had no trouble navigating a sloppy, rain-soaked track in winning the $39,000 Invitational Trot Thursday (June 6) at Yonkers Raceway.

The 8^th race harness racing feature got underway with Nows The Moment (Mark MacDonald) shooting to the early lead and was up by two lengths by the opening quarter mile in :27.3 with I Get It (George Brennan) grabbing the two-hole trip.

Heading to the half mile, driver Yannick Gingras moved Sea Can first-over from fifth place and was in second challenging Nows The Moment by the half in :58.

Those two would battle it out down the backstretch with Take All Comers (Jordan Stratton) second-over past the three-quarters in 1:26.1.

Despite the off-track conditions, Sea Can was relentless first-over around the final turn and then down the stretch he was finally able to get the lead and then held off Take All Comers to win by three-quarters in a length in 1:55.4. The pocket-sitting I Get It was third.

Trained by Ron Burke, Sea Can posted his fourth win of the season for Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi, paying $11.00 to win.
