Grove City, Ohio – Sea Silk (Downbytheseaside) will look to go three-for three in Ohio Sires Stakes action Saturday night (Jul. 2) when MGM Northfield Park hosts the third leg for sophomore harness racing filly pacers. Two divisions will be contested, each with a purse of $55,000.
Chris Page will drive Sea Silk for trainer Ron Burke. Sea Silk won the first leg at Miami Valley Raceway in 1:50.2 on May 4 and one month later won in 1:51.3 at Eldorado Scioto Downs.
Sea Silk, the 8-5 favorite, is owned by the Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi, Knox Services, and Hatfield Stable.
Dragon’s Revenge (Fear The Dragon) and Cold Hearted Gypsy (Yankee Cruiser) are the co-second choices at 3-1.
Aaron Merriman will drive Dragon’s Revenge for trainer Christi Noble. The filly was second to Sea Silk in the first leg. She has hit the board in five of eight starts this year.
Dragon’s Revenge is owned by Tim Homan, Jim Burnett, and Norman Rae Racing.
Cold Hearted Gypsy will look for her fourth win in 10 starts. Chris Lems will drive the Racing Hill filly for owner-trainer Herman Hagerman.
Spitting Image (Yankee Cruiser) will be making the jump from the Buckeye Stallion Series to the Ohio Sires Stakes. Spitting Image has won the first two legs in the BSS for sophomore filly pacers. Trained by Ron Burke, Ronnie Wrenn Jr. will drive the filly.
Spitting Image is owned by Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi.
Two previous Sires Stakes winners, Do It Like Bobbi (Downbytheseaside) and Secret Side Piece (Downbytheseaside) will square off in the second division.
Do It Like Bobbi won the second leg at Scioto Downs while Secret Side Piece was a winner in the first leg.
Tony Hall will drive Do It Like Bobbi for trainer David Elliott. The filly has won three of five starts and is owned by Stephen Sexton.
Trainer Brian Brown will have Cameron McCown in the bike for Secret Side Piece. Secret Side Piece is owned by Black Magic Racing and is looking for her second win of the year.
The race favorite is Cape Cod Hanover (Downbytheseaside). Chris Page will drive the Ron Burke trainee. Cape Cod Hanover has hit the board in all four starts this year. She has won twice and has been second in the two previous Ohio Sires Stakes legs.
Cape Cod Hanover is owned by the Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi, Rich Lombardo Racing, and RAS Racing.
First race post time Saturday night at MGM Northfield Park is 6:00 PM.
