Camwood scored a front-end harness racing victory in the Monticello Raceway Open Pace on Tuesday, winning the class for the second consecutive week.
He was widest of the three vying for the early lead due to his four-hole draw, but Bruce Aldrich Jr. encouraged him on through the first turn and secured the front prior to the quarter in :29. Camwood went to the half in :58.4 and began to edge away from the two and three-wide challengers going past three-quarters in 1:27.4.
Aldrich needed to work little in the stretch to get Camwood home a length and a quarter clear of Certified Ideal (Justin Huckabone) for a 1:56.4 score. Certified Ideal kept his second-place finish after a length inquiry, and Grand Priority (Brandon Parker) recovered from a shuffle for show.
CAMWOOD REPLAY
That was Camwood’s 23rd victory in 126 career appearances. The seven-year-old Woodstock gelding has made just less than $215,000. Christopher Petrelli trains for George Dremonas of Oak Lawn.
Monticello Raceway will be back on Wednesday, May 5 to host eight races starting at 12:10 p.m. EDT.
