Joxter (Chapter Seven) and harness racing driver Dan Daley captured the $10,000 Open Trot at Vernon Downs on Friday (October 28).
Zapaca (John MacDonald) went straight to the front and led to the quarter in :27.3.Ā Ā He used a :29.2 second quarter to be first to the half in :57.0.Ā Ā Joxter ($2.70) made his move heading to the final turn and swooped on by to be first to three-quarters in 1:25.2.
As they made the turn for home Lightfootedlegend (Todd Cummings) became the major danger and went all out after the leader.Ā Ā Joxter was just too strong and won by equaling his lifetime best mile in 1:52.4.Ā Ā Lightfootedlegend had to settle for second.Ā Ā Bourbon Express (Frank Affrunti) finished third.
Joxter is a 4-year-old gelding owned by Ann-Mari Daley and trained by Dan Daley.Ā Ā It was his ninth win this season and second straight score in the Open Trot.Ā Ā He now has 19 career victories.
