Joxter (Chapter Seven) and harness racing driver Dan Daley captured the $10,000 Open Trot at Vernon Downs on Friday (October 28).

Zapaca (John MacDonald) went straight to the front and led to the quarter in :27.3. He used a :29.2 second quarter to be first to the half in :57.0. Joxter ($2.70) made his move heading to the final turn and swooped on by to be first to three-quarters in 1:25.2.
As they made the turn for home Lightfootedlegend (Todd Cummings) became the major danger and went all out after the leader. Joxter was just too strong and won by equaling his lifetime best mile in 1:52.4. Lightfootedlegend had to settle for second. Bourbon Express (Frank Affrunti) finished third.
Joxter is a 4-year-old gelding owned by Ann-Mari Daley and trained by Dan Daley. It was his ninth win this season and second straight score in the Open Trot. He now has 19 career victories.
