For the second straight week, New Zealand harness racing import Nandolo N (Betterthancheddar) has won the top pacing event both sides of the Hudson River, this week at Yonkers Raceway Monday (Jan. 30) evening.
It was just last week that Nandolo N won the Preferred Pace feature at The Meadowlands and tonight it was the 8th race $36,000 Open Handicap.
Semi Tough (Yannick Gingras) left from post seven to take early command of the race with Oakwoodnitownit Ir (Scott Zeron) grabbing the two-hole spot as they raced by the first quarter in :27.4.
The field continued single file passed the half mile in :56.4 before Nandolo N and driver Jason Bartlett came first-over going down the backstretch with Genius Man (Braxten Boyd) second-over. Semi Tough led at the three-quarters in 1:24.2.
By the top of the stretch, Nandolo N had collared Semi Tough but also in the battle was Oakwoodnitownit Ir along the pylons and those three went at it tooth and nail down to the wire. Nandolo N was the fastest with a :27.4 last quarter mile to win by a neck over Oakwoodnitownit Jr in 1:52.3 with Semi Tough third by a neck.
