Both harness racing drivers Chris Shaw and Calvin Dodson were hurt in a race accident in the third race at The Meadows Tuesday afternoon. Shaw was flown to the hospital via helicopter and Dodson by ambulance.
Chris Shaw was not that fortunate. According to a post on Facebook, Shaw has an open compound fracture of his humerus and elbow. He also suffered a broken nose and some facial fractures and a dissection of his carotid artery from trauma.) He also has a couple compound fractures in his backĀ has a bruise on his lung.
He has movement in all his extremities and is as sharp as a tack neuro wise, but faces a long recovery ahead of him.
While driver Calvin Dodson was released from the hospital last night, he will still require surgery.
