On Friday, November 17, 2023, Austin Siegelman won three out of ten harness racing contests at New Jersey’s “afternoon delight,” Freehold Raceway.
His first victory was made in race two, where he piloted 7-5 Jossie James A (Big Jim) to the lead from post four and remained unchallenged as they set the pace for the rest of the mile and crossed the wire in 1:55.3. This win was the first of the day for trainer Cameron Capone, who would later earn a training double when his trainee, Panty Line was victorious at 4-1 after being parked out for the entire mile in race ten.
JOSSIE JAMES A REPLAY
Siegelman won again in race four. He swooped three-wide passed the field in the first turn from post seven with 5-2 King Cast (Current Cast, Michael Posner) and continued to trot away from the field without facing any pressure as he finished in 2:00.1.
KING CAST REPLAY
But surely the most exciting victory of the day for Siegelman came in race six when he steered his very own Lincoln’s Girl N (Sir Lincoln, Leah Posner) to victory from post five.
Similar to his other wins, he quickly went to the lead and set the pace for the rest of the mile, though he did face some pressure in the final turn, it was not too much to handle for Siegelman and his mare as they completed the mile in 1:57.2.
LINCOLN’S GIRL N REPLAY
Eric Abbatiello had a driving double after winning with Hold Me Closer (Chapter Seven, Jenna Cornelison) in race seven and completing the Capone training double in race ten with Panty Line (Betting Line).
Freehold returns with eleven more races tomorrow, Saturday (Nov. 18) starting at 12:30pm.
