Sinatra De Vie (Southwind Frank) overtook his stablemate College Tuition in the final 16th of the mile to record a 1:53.2 win in the $11,000 Open Handicap harness racing trot at Rosecroft on Tuesday night (Mar. 12).
Johnathan Ahle was in the bike for Owner-Trainer Eric Foster as he set a new four-year old gelding mark in the process. Sinatra De Vie was a $9,000 Lexington select yearling purchase and has now won 10 of 32 starts and pushed his earnings over $125,000. He is now 2-2 in 2024.
Getting away last in a nine-horse field, Ahle bided his time as College Tuition and Jared Moyer held off a challenge from Saylor and Trae Porter down the backside and just before the three-quarter mark, Ahle tipped his charge three wide and won a tough sprint to the wire by three-quarters of a length.
“He is a nice one, he’s got a wicked brush,” Ahle said. It was the second win for Ahle on the night as he also won with St Lad’s Bijou for Michael Hall.
