WASHINGTON, PA, April 29, 2023 — A well-beaten second to Flite Craft in both preliminary legs, Slipmeamiki (Always B Miki-Dancin Lucille) blew by the 1-5 favorite in the lane and captured Saturday’s (Apr. 29) $20,400 championship of the Tom Kirwan Memorial for 3-year-old colt and gelding pacers at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
In those two earlier legs, Slipmeamiki finished a combined 9 lengths behind Flite Craft. On Saturday, however, Slipmeamiki stretched out Flite Craft to the quarter before yielding to the pocket. In the lane, the gelding responded to Hunter Myers’ urging and downed Flite Craft by 1/2 length in a career-best 1:51.1 over a “good” surface. Be The Captain earned show.
