Colt trotters head to Northfield for $110,000 OSS

Grove City, OH – Two divisions of three-year-old colt pacers will take to the MGM Northfield Park harness racing track Saturday night June 10 in search of a win in the second leg of the Ohio Sires Stakes.  A total of $110,000 will be on the line with each division carrying a purse of $55,000.

In the first division, John Dutton (What The Hill) is the early favorite at 9-5.  He will be driven by Chris Page.  He is trained by Ron Burke.  John Dutton has won five of seven races this year, with a pair of third-place finishes, and has earned $48,100 for the ownership group of Burke Racing Stable, Knox Services, Johnny Yoder, and RAS Racing.

The second choice is Grand Revival at 5-2.  Josh Sutton will drive the Creatine gelding for Deborah Swartz who trains and co-owns with Zachary Henry.  Grand Revival has hit the board in all five starts, winning four.  He has earned $42,750 this year.

First leg winners Jet Hill (What The Hill) and Rumble Strips (Long Tom) will square off in the second division.  Jet Hill is the favorite at 5-2, while Rumble Strips is the third choice at 7-2.

Jet Hill is a perfect three for three this year with earnings of $60,500.  Ronnie Wrenn Jr. will drive for Edward Miller.  He is owned by Serenity Racing Stables.

Rumble Strips, the 2022 Ohio Two-Year-Old Trotting Colt of the Year, has won two of three this year for trainer Mike Polhamus.  Kayne Kauffman will drive the colt.  Owned by Constance Polhamus and Mary Beth Walters, Rumble Strips has earned $39,500 this year.

The Sires Stakes action is part a big card at MGM Northfield Park which includes the $200,000 Battle of Lake Erie and the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association Charity Night Race.

Nine Cleveland area charities have been paired with a horse in the fourth race.  The charity of the winning horse will receive a $10,000 donation from the OHHA.  The second-place finisher will receive $5,000, with third place receiving $3,000.  The other six charities will each receive $2,000 donations.
