Grove City, OH – Four divisions each of harness racing three-year-old colt pacers and trotters will wrap up the third leg of the Buckeye Stallion Series Sunday and Monday (Jul. 2 and 3) at MGM Northfield Park.
Each of the four $20,000 divisions of sophomore pacers will feature at least one previous winner in the series.
In the first division, Gettingyoursealegs (Downbytheseaside) is the morning line favorite. The gelding has hit the board in six of seven this year, winning two for trainer Ron Burke.
Brian Brown will send the favorite, Surfside Beach (Downbytheseaside), to the gate in the second division. Surfside Beach has one win in three starts.
The third division is packed with four previous winners. Don’ttouchmytruck (Racing Hill) and Quick Trick (Racing Hill) are the top two choices. Both Don’ttouchmytruck, trained by Judy Roegner, and the Jeff Conger trained Quick Trick have won three of eight starts this year.
Calvin Hollar’s Dragon Candy (Fear The Dragon) will look for his fifth win of the year, while Jessica McCown’s Boundtobefearless (Fear The Dragon) will try to score for the fourth time this season.
Boardwalk Jack (Downbytheseaside) will look for his second win in the series in the final division. The Burke trainee has three wins this year.
Three other leg winners, Liteningonthebeach, Primary Driver, and Seafire will race in the third leg of the Ohio Sires Stakes Saturday (Jul. 1) at Eldorado Scioto Downs, while Under Your Scars a winner in the first leg will sit out the third leg of both the Buckeye Stallion Series and the Ohio Sires Stakes.
Each of the four $20,000 divisions for three-year-old trotters will have a past series winner in the field.
In the first division, Vondell Kemp (What The Hill) will look for his third win of the year. He is trained by Tyler Bates.
Chris Beaver trainee Domovy (Triumphant Caviar) is the favorite in the second division. The gelding has hit the board in five of eight starts, winning two.
The third division features Fiesty Sam (Victory Sam) who has also won two of eight starts this year. He is trained by Matthew Brown.
Long Tom Jess, the favorite in the fourth division, will look for his second win of the year. He has hit the board in six of nine starts for trainer Rosy Weaver.
Two-time Stallion Series winner Burton’s Hill is scheduled to race in the third leg of the Ohio Sires Stakes Tuesday (Jul. 4) at Eldorado Scioto Downs
First race post time for both cards at MGM Northfield Park is 6:00 PM.
