Monticello, N.Y. – The New York Sire Stakes for three-year-old harness racing trotting fillies visits Monticello Raceway on Monday, August 15. They will race in two heats, each worth $57,000.
Race 3 is the first division of NYSS. Perfect Vixen (Muscles Yankee) has been installed the morning line favorite and will score from the rail with her usual pilot, John Stark Jr.
She sports an impressive resume. In 14 starts, she has had nine trips to the winner’s circle and $64,000 in purses. She moves up in class this week. Gertrude (PP4) has won two consecutive races in the Excelsior A class. This will be her first foray in this class. She’ll be driven by Tyler Miller.
Valentine Blu (Chapter Seven) from post five heads the 8th race $57,000 second division of the NYSS and raced against the best last season, where she banked over $336,000. She won a NYSS earlier this year at Yonkers Raceway in 1:55.4. The filly will be driven by Joe Bongiorno for trainer Tony Alagna and is owned by Crawford Farms.
Gettinmystepsin has been a model of consistency this season, only missing a check in one start. She has won both legs of the Weiss Trot. She will start from Post 4 for trainer Julie Miller and Tyler Miller will drive.
