CUMBERLAND, ME – Southwind Terror, the winningest horse at First Tracks Cumberland returns to his favorite oval on Tuesday (Nov. 9) in hopes of another return trip to the Blue Seal Feeds Winner’s Circle.
The 11-year-old son of Camluck already has 8 wins this season, most of which he got at the aforementioned Southern Maine oval while in the Christopher Hitchcock stable. Now with trainer Stanley Bubier Jr., he will be looking to put the 51st notch in Southwind Terror’s lifetime victory belt. Coupled with the $370,013 on his dance card, the fan favorite is the most successful horse racing on Tuesday’s nine-race program.
Starting from post one in race two, a $4,000 conditioned pace, Southwind Terror gets Andy Harrington in the sulky, and is listed as the 7-2 third choice on the morning line. The favorite is Captain Nash (post 2, Drew Campbell, 3-1) who gets some class relief following several events against tougher company at Bangor.
Second choice is Safety Second (post 3, Dan Deslandes, 5-2) who has a win and two seconds in his last three battles against similarly rated foes.
The second race is the first half of the daily double, with the opener comprised of 2- and 3-year-olds who are non-winners of 1PM or $8,000 life. Several of these youngsters are well traveled around the Maine and Ohio Fair circuits this past summer, with three Buckeyes, a Hoosier, a New Yorker and a Mainer rounding out the field.
We come right back on Wednesday (Nov. 10) with a 10-race card at First Tracks Cumberland. Our Winter Festival extended pari-mutuel meeting continues with live harness racing several days each week through December 31, 2021.
