Southwind Tyrion (Muscle Hill) prevailed in the slop to win the $600,000 Breeders Crown Open Trot in rein to harness racing trainer-driver and co-owner Ake Svanstedt, who piloted the 5-year-old for co-owners SRF Stable, Knutsson Trotting and Brittany Farms and Riverview.
The bay horse was clocked in 1:52.2 after a torrential downpour caused the track to be changed from fast to sloppy in a matter of minutes at Harrah’s Hoosier Park on Saturday night, October 28. He paid $14.00 to win.
Sent off at 6-1 odds, Southwind Tyrion notched seasonal win number four and career win 12. This latest triumph pushed his seasonal earnings to $484,316 and his career bankroll to $813,123. The venerable trotter was an easy winner over 7-1 Itās Academic (David Miller), and 73-1 longshot and third-place finisher Rattle My Cage (Yannick Gingras). Race favorite Alrajah One IT (Dexter Dunn) was parked first-over and finished seventh.
āHe had a good post, and we made some equipment changes that I think helped. Heās kind of good horse all around, and heās very nice to manage,ā said Sarah Svanstedt, representing the Svanstedt Stable.
