YONKERS, N.Y.— Yogi Sheridan and Andrew Adamczyk fired down the road with odds-on favorites to win in their respective $13,100 divisions of the North American Amateur Drivers Association (NAADA) Trot at Yonkers Raceway on Thursday night (Sept. 19).

In the first division, Sheridan never saw another rival as he coasted to an open-length win with Hobbs (Credit Winner) in 1:59.

Sheridan grabbed the lead to a :29 first quarter and snuck a breather to a 1:00 half before scampering away from his peers. He opened two lengths on pocket-chaser Limerance (driven by Dawn Anderson) moving to three-quarters in 1:29.1 and only widened his lead through the lane to register a 5-1/4-length victory.

Limerance held second from Ima Standup Guy (Joe Faraldo), who rallied from a break at the start to take third. Mufasas As (Robert Krivelin) rode the pylons to take fourth.

HOBBS/YOGI SHERIDAN REPLAY

Cory Stratton trains Hobbs, a 7-year-old gelding, for owner Howard Jacobs. He paid $2.60 to win.

Andrew Adamczyk turned away all challengers in the second division to win with 3-5 choice Reel Em In (Crazed) in 1:59.

Adamczyk crossed to the lead as he stacked challengers three wide to a :28.4 first quarter and found reprieve as Call Me Thefireman (Anthony Verruso) ducked into the pocket and Stealing (Matt Zuccarello) broke stride moving to a :58.2 half. Reel Em In rolled steadily to the backside and clocked three-quarters in 1:28.3 as Bacardi (Yogi Sheridan) pushed from three wide to press the leader around the final turn. But Adamczyk spun for home on a 2-1/4-length lead that proved a snug cushion as he and Reel Em In strolled over the line 1-3/4 lengths better than Bacardi. Call Me Thefireman took third and Dwight Hanover (Bob Hechkoff) closed after breaking at the start for fourth.

Andrew Adamczyk owns Reel Em In, a 7-year-old gelding, for owner Hero Stables. He paid $3.40 to win.

NAADA action continues next Thursday (Sept. 26) at Yonkers Raceway for the third leg of the club’s Fall Trotting Series. First-race post time at Yonkers is 7 p.m. (EDT).
