WASHINGTON, PA, Oct. 4, 2023 — Spitfire Oversees (International Moni-Lagal Lady) launched an impressive, uncovered move that carried him past the loose leader, Rose Run Yorick, to victory in 1:52.2, matching the harness racing track record for 3-year-old geldings, in Wednesday’s feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $12,500 Conditioned Trot. The time equals the mark established last year by Longshot.
Spitfire Oversees was coming off a 7-length victory in a Keystone Classic but found himself in fourth past the half, five lengths behind Rose Run Yorick. Dave Palone set the 3-year-old gelding to his task, and he responded by overtaking Rose Run Yorick in mid-stretch and defeating him by 1-1/4 lengths. Vigil Cobra finished third.
