Cream Ridge, NJ – 3/7/2023 – All 43 former harness racing trotters and pacers are safe. Sixteen homes are still needed but until that happens the Standardbred Retirement Foundation, (SRF) has funds to care for them.
It will be a few months while they rehabilitate from injuries, illness, lameness and get their dignity back, lift their heads up again. Hopefully all will find loving homes and none will need sanctuary. The list started with 41 Standardbreds but, in fact it was 43. The quarantine facilities are ready. Some are sick, others are injured, emaciated or lame. The list for the veterinarian is already being made.
These horses had no one until very special people stepped into their lives through this effort to keep them from slaughter. It’s a day to be grateful for all the kind donors who made the caring gesture of generosity. Together it resonated. The kill pen owner was told to pull those USDA tags off their backs!
SRF will be providing photos and possibly video when more arrive to safety.
To offer a home or foster home email srfhorsesankids@gmail.com an application is required and will be handled expeditiously. This can be found on the website.

Helping horses in these situations include the efforts of many people, collecting current information is challenging. If you have contributed it may take a bit of time to update the information.
