Cream Ridge, NJ – 11/29/2024 – The Standardbred Retirement Foundation’s, (SRF) urgent need to replenish its three critical funds has reached $3,250. This generous support, matched by donors realizes $6,500 for its Critical Care, Emergency Medical, and Dignity Now Funds.
The 483 trotters and pacers under SRF’s care and expense easily exhaust these funds particularly when horses are rescued by SRF from slaughter. With so many leaning on SRF for all their needs it’s not unusual to have a horse with an injury, colic, choke, fever, lameness and similar nearly every day.
There are many ways to realize tax benefits when donating. SRF has provided this information at the link below.
SRF is asking for support to realize this very generous $50,000 match offer for Giving Tuesday to realize this full gift for these horses.
1.CRITICAL CARE FUND
Critical care provides the needs for medical issues needing extended ongoing care such as a sinus infection, tooth fracture, dental abscess, pneumonia, choke, high fevers for extended periods, seizures, colic, eye injuries and enucleation, transport for care, and otherĀ extended critical care neededĀ to save a life.
2.EMERGENCY MEDICAL FUND
Emergency medical care provides for wounds, lacerations, punctures, impalement of objects, drains, medically treated colic, lameness, medications, transport for short term care, and similar emergency medical needs.
3.DIGNITY NOW FUND
For horses whose quality of life has drastically declined, the Dignity Now Fund assists with their end-of-life care, hospice. Horses may experience depression, loss of appetite, or become unable to find comfort, particularly SRF’s older population. When veterinary care can no longer relieve their suffering, this fund helps with humane euthanasia at the recommendation of a veterinarian, and related expenses, sparing them from prolonged distress.
