Harness racing trainer-driver Ryan Stahl, just six days after being involved in a horrific horse racing accident at MGM Northfield Park, has been released from the hospital and is now home Thursday afternoon.
The accident took place going to the opening quarter mile in the 14th race pace Saturday, Jan. 1.
Stahl was taken to the hospital suffering from a partially collapsed lung, six broken ribs and injuries to his right leg and left hand and arm. No other drivers were reported with serious issues.
Three horses, one of which was the outriders, had to be euthanized.
It is not yet known how long Stahl will be recuperating because he can go back to training and driving Standardbreds.
