Stormy Kromer (Dejarmbro) made it look easy for harness racing driver Daniel Dube and they led gate to wire in capturing the $39,000 Open Handicap Trot Friday (July 22) at Yonkers Raceway.
The 8th race feature saw Dube and Stormy Kromer scoot away from post two and hold a two and one-quarter length lead at the opening quarter mile in :28.
Race favorite Hillexotic and driver Greg Merton was first-up in fourth at the half mile in :56.4. Stormy Kromer still held a two and one-half length lead at the three-quarters in 1:24.2 with Hillexotic still parked out.
Up by three lengths at the top of the stretch, Stormy Kromer and Dube held the field at bay down the stretch, winning by two and one-half lengths in 1:53.1. Refined (Matt Kakaley) was second with Kenziesky Hanover (Jason Bartlett) third.
STORMY KROMER REPLAY
It was the second straight win and sixth of the season for Stormy Kromer. He is trained by Paul Stafford for owner Thomas Ceraso, Jr. and paid $5.40 to win.
