Lexington, KY — Trotting filly Storybook Love, a daughter of Chapter Seven-Stirling Debutant, sold for $210,000 to Bax Stable as agent for Al Libfeld to top the third session of the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale, held Wednesday (Oct. 2) at Fasig-Tipton Pavilion.
Storybook Love is a half sister to 2021 Indiana Sires Stakes champion Shirley Goodness and stakes winner Simply Right. Her family also includes stakes winner Blackhawk Zette, who has earned nearly $250,000 this season. Storybook Love was consigned by Kentuckiana Farms and bred by Alan and Larry Troyer. She is New York eligible.
Tying for second on Wednesday’s best-sellers list, at $175,000, were trotting fillies Hustle N Bustle and Cork And Carry.
Hustle N Bustle, a daughter of Walner-Hustle Heart, was purchased by Dream With Me Stable. She is a half sister to stakes winner Fly Light.
Her second dam is 2008 Hambletonian Oaks champ Creamy Mimi, the mother of millionaire French Wine and Grand Circuit winner French Laundry, and her family also includes Dan Patch Award winners Bella Bellini and Pizza Dolce. She was consigned by Kentuckiana Farms and bred by Marvin Katz and Al Libfeld. She is New Jersey and Kentucky eligible.
Cork And Carry, a daughter of Bar Hopping-Flying Glider, was purchased by Armitage Farm. She is a half sister to Grand Circuit winner Internationalmodel. Her family also includes Grand Circuit winner Godiva Hall and Hall of Fame broodmare Amour Angus. She was consigned by Kentuckiana Farms and bred by James Wilhite Jr. She is Pennsylvania and Kentucky eligible.
In total, Wednesday’s 219 horses sold for $10.7 million, for an average of $48,881. Last year, the third session totaled $13.02 million for 247 horses, an average of $52,717.
Through three days, this year’s sale is at a total of $55.17 million for 563 horses, an average of $97,996. Last year’s sale totaled $58.48 million for 607 horses, an average of $96,351. In 2022, it was at $55.49 million for 584 horses, an average of $95,024.
Through three sessions, Walner led trotting sires in gross with 51 horses selling for $8.93 million. He also led in average among sires with more than two yearlings sold, with $175,216. Downbytheseaside led in average with $149,727 for 11 yearlings.
The fourth session of the five-day sale begins at 1 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 3).
