Dewey Arnold (Deweycheatumnhowe) came first-over in the backstretch at Saratoga Raceway Sunday (June 5) and was able to grind his way to an impressive win in the $15,000 Open-Handicap Trot.
The 6th race feature got underway with Mystical Somolli and driver Phil Fluet grabbing the quick lead and then having to give way to Cash Me Out (Brett Crawford) at the opening quarter in :27.4.
With no movement in the field, Cash Me Out continue to lead the way to the half mile in :56.3 and after that was when driver Jim Devaux came first-over from third place with Dewey Arnold and Malibu Kid (Luke Hanners) followed second-over.
Past the three-quarters in 1:25.4 Dewey Arnold had caught Cash Me Out and then was a head to the good at the top of the stretch. From there Dewey Arnold pulled away from the field to win by two and one-quarter lengths. Malibu Kid was second with Cash Me Out third.
