Surreal Ideal (So Surreal) overcame the outside post and used a first-over effort to take the $28,000 Open Pace in Saturday (Nov. 8) harness racing action at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway to pick up his seventh straight race.

Surreal Ideal

The start had four horses looking for the lead, but it was Pj Lou (Luke Hanners) who protected his rail position and took control at the quarter in :26.2.

Chris Page was forced out of the three-hole with Racing Rebel and cleared before the half mile in :54.2.

Handicapped with post #8, Surreal Ideal (Brett Miller) found himself first over, providing live cover for Timeisonmyside (Anthony MacDonald).

The field of eight was two-by-two at the three-quarters in 1:22.1.

Surreal Ideal put a head in front around the final turn and drew off from Timeisonmyside in the lane to secure the 1 ¾ length win in 1:50.

SURREAL IDEAL REPLAY

Joelsyy Hanover (Tyler Smith) rallied from last to grab the show spot.

The seven-year-old So Surreal gelding is trained by Vernon Beachy for the partnership of 518 Group and Gitup Racing.

In the $24,000 Open II Pace, Rose Run Zane (Austin Hanners) showed why he was the bettor’s choice with his 1:50.4 victory.

Lotsa Knock Us (Tyler Smith) blasted off the gates wings and received the first call.

Austin Hanners waited briefly and sent the eventual winner to the front at the quarter in :27.2.

The half was in :55.4.

St Lads Criminal (Mike Micallef) had a urgent brush down the backstretch to get into contention, but he couldn’t get past the leader.

Rose Run Zane held off a passing lane effort by Lotsa Knock Us to record the one-length win.

John and Leann Saunders own the four-year-old gelded son of Racing Hill.

Dan Venier trains the winner.

Dayton Raceway returns to action on Tuesday (Nov. 11).
