Plainville, MA — Surreal Syrah continued her Cinderella season with another win in the $17,500 upper level condition for distaff pacers at Plainridge Park on Monday afternoon (Sept. 6).
In her usual stalking manner, Surreal Syrah (Drew Monti) got away fourth while Ryās Red Rocket (Matty Athearn) rolled down the highway in :26.4 and :56 to the half. Monti tipped Surreal Syrah first-up past that station and took command of the race by three-quarters. After circling the final turn, Surreal Syrah maintained a 1-1/2 length lead at the top of the stretch and with Katie Caught (Bruce Range) in chase, extended that margin to two at the line where she won in 1:53.3.
SURREAL SYRAH REPLAY
Surreal Syrah ($5.20) is owned and trained by Dan Tuccillo Jr.
For over two years from July 20, 2019 until July 29, 2021, Surreal Syrah did not win a race, but things have certainly changed since then. In her last six starts the 6-year-old So Surreal-Red Zinfandel mare has now won three races with two seconds and a lifetime mark of 1:51.3. And the $46,175 in purse money she has won so far this year is more than double her entire lifetime earnings.
Drew Monti also won with Beantown Sporty (1:55.4, $4.20) and Powered By Mach (1:53.2, $6.00) to lead all drivers with three wins on Monday.
Racing resumes at Plainridge Park on Thursday (Sept. 9) with post time at 2 p.m.
