Harness racing trainer/driver Ake Svanstedt put on another command performance in the John Simpson Sr. Memorial stakes races on Tuesday (Oct. 17) at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania.
A day after winning with all three of his Simpson starters, Svanstedt swept all three $43,100 āSuper Bowlā divisions for two-year old trotting colts and geldings.
Whatās more amazing about this six-race winning streak is that every one of the victories came courtesy of a pocket trip that Svanstedt was able to work out with each horse. His three two-year-old trotting winners on Tuesday: Tony Adams S (Muscle Hill) in 1:56:2; Daiquri Hanover (Bar Hopping) in 1:55:2; and Coors Hanover (Bar Hopping) in 1:55:1.
There were also four $30,000 Simpson āHardie Hanoverā races held for three-year-old pacing fillies on Tuesday at Pocono. Pennsylvania champion of her age group Odds On Hail Mary (Heston Blue Chip), trained by Linda Toscano and driven by Jason Bartlett, took the starring role in that class with an impressive victory in 1:51:1.
Other Simpson winners in the three-year-old pacing filly class on Tuesday: Light and Tight, with Tyler Buter driving for Nifty Norman, in 1:54:1; Racin Hungry (Stay Hungry), with Matt Kakaley doing the honors for trainer Jennifer Bongiorno, in 1:53:2; and Sweet Cheyanne (Hunstville), with Marcus Miller driving for Erv Miler, in 1:52.
Simpson action continues Wednesday at Pocono with three divisions each of two-year-old pacing fillies (āThe Davidia Hanoverā) and two-year-old trotting fillies (“The Razzle Hanoverā). First post time on Wednesday at Pocono is 1 PM Eastern and there are 14 races on the program.
