Ocean City, MD – Harness racing driver Montrel Teague and trainer Shaun Callahan teamed up to sweep both splits for trotting fillies in the second round of two year old Maryland Sire Stake Prelims at Ocean Downs.
Andovermiwinner (Andoversure) left the field in her dust, striding away at every pole, stopping the clock 16 ¾ lengths in front of the second place horse Hot Rod Roz (Charlie De Vie) in the first division. Robert Key is the owner and breeder, time for the mile was 2:03.4.
In the second division Pride Of Windswept (Charlie De Vie) took the lead from Paislees Future (Trainforthefuture) past the quarter, which set up the stretch battle, with Pride Of Windswept crossing the wire a half-length in front of Paislees Future in 2:03.4. John and Sarah Swart are the owners and breeders.
The first division for the pacing colts and geldings saw Stunners Wish (Rusty's For Real) with Tony Morgan in the bike, get a quick jump on the field due to some missteps by a couple of colts in the first turn. Stunners Wish picked up his second win in as many starts tripping the timer in 2:02 for owner-breeder Sharon Morgan and trainer Tim Crissman. Real Made (Rusty's For Real) recovered from that early break to finish second.
The pocket sitting, longshot Harveys All In (Rusty's All In) charged down the stretch to nip the front running KO Master (Rusty's For Real) in the final division for the pacing colts and geldings in the 2:01.2 mile. Jared Moyer was between the wheels for trainer Arlene Cameron and owner-breeder Pamela Wagner.
The two year olds return to the Ocean oval for their finals on Friday September 18th.
