Lexington, KY — Trotting filly The Goose Princess was the top seller during the Thursday (Oct. 3) session of the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale, purchased at the Fasig-Tipton Pavilion by Determination for $120,000.
The Goose Princess, a daughter of Muscle Mass-Golden Goose, is a half sister to Golden Tricks, a winner on the Grand Circuit in North America and a Group 2 winner overseas. She is a full sister to Princess Lilly, a multiple winner on the Ontario stakes circuit. She was consigned by Preferred Equine Marketing and bred by Little E LLC. She is Ontario eligible.
Overall Thursday, 208 horses sold for $5.86 million, an average of $28,216. Last year’s fourth session, also saw 208 horses go through the ring. The gross was $4.97 million, an average of $23,913.
This year’s average through four days is $79,171, the second-best average in history, behind only the $80,802 mark in 2022 through four sessions. Last year’s average through four sessions was $77,864.
The gross this year is $61.04 million for 771 horses. The total through four sessions in 2023 was $63.45 million for 815 horses. In 2022, it was $60.44 million for 748 horses.
The Goose Princess was the lone six-figure seller on Thursday. Trotting filly Burningforyourlove, a daughter of Bar Hopping-Beltane Hanover, was purchased by consignor Preferred Equine Marketing as agent for $95,000. The next two, both purchased for $90,000, were pacing colt Over Bet and trotting filly New Orleans.
Over Bet, a son of Bettor’s Delight-Sadayo Hanover, sold to Anthony Beaton as agent. The colt’s family includes millionaire Sassa Hanover. He was consigned by Spring Haven Farm and bred by Doug Millard Farms. He is Ontario eligible.
New Orleans, a daughter of Muscle Hill-Nepentha, was purchased by Tommy Bo Andersson. She is a half sister to Grand Circuit winner and Kentucky Sire Stakes champion Beads. The family also includes Dan Patch Award winner Almost An Angel. She was consigned by Hunterton Sales Agency and bred by Atlantic Trot Inc. and Steve Stewart. She is New Jersey and Kentucky eligible.
The fifth and final session of the sale begins at 7 p.m. Friday (Oct. 4).
