Time Watch (Captaintreacherous) and harness racing driver Jack Pelling took no chances in leading from gate-to-wire in capturing the $12,000 Preferred-Handicap Pace at Freehold Raceway Sunday (Jan. 21).
The 10th race feature saw Time Watch leave from post five and get to the front with an opening quarter mile in :28. Shakertown (Troy Beyer) grabbed the two-hole trip behind the race favorite.
They raced single file past the half mile in :57.2. Then in the backstretch, Fizzing N (Johnathan Ahle) came first-over from third place but could only get within a length of Time Watch as they tripped the three-quarters beacon at 1:26.
Starting down the stretch, Time Watch and Pelling had only Fizzing N on their backs, and they then pulled away coming to the wire to win by two lengths in 1:54.1. Fizzing N was second with Euphoria N (Shaun Vallee) third.
TIME WATCH REPLAY
Undefeated now in his three starts of the 2023 season, Time Watch is trained and owned by Ken Tisa. He paid $3.60 to win.
