Prairie Westerngal (Western Ideal) (Braxten Boyd) takes the featured $12,000 Fillies & Mares Open harness racing pace at Tioga Downs on Sunday (July 3).
Prairie Westerngal ($10.40) forged her way to the front and led to the quarter in :27.2.Ā Ā Alta Madeira N (Mike Merton) took over control as they headed to the stands for the first time and was first to the half in :56.1.Ā Ā Georgie (Aaron Byron) came first-over as they headed down the backstretch.Ā Ā Alta Madeira N led to three-quarters in 1:24.0.
As they reached the stretch Alta Madeira N continue to lead as Georgie kept coming and Prairie Westerngal found an opening near the pylons.Ā Ā They were three across the track as Prairie Westerngal slipped by to win in 1:52.2.Ā Ā Alta Madeira N had to settle for second.Ā Ā Georgie was third best.
Prairie Westerngal is a 6-year-old mare by Western Ideal.Ā Ā She is owned by Joel Warner, Patricia Fitz, and trainer Mike Deters.Ā Ā It was her third win this season and her 25thĀ career victory.

Boyd drove three winners on the card. He got his other wins with Defon Seelster (Muscle Mass) ($18.80), and Joint Account (American Ideal) ($3.60).Ā Ā John Hallett and Randy Taft had training doubles.Ā Ā Hallett got his wins with Joint Account, and Cherish Hanover (Bettor’s Delight) ($14.00).Ā Ā Taft was first with Abbie Rose (Heston Blue Chip) ($23.00), and Sususussudio (Third Straight) ($3.60).Ā Ā Aaron Byron had a driving double on the day.
