Top trotters fly in NYSS

Tioga Downs hosted two divisions of the New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) for 3-year-old trotting fillies as well as 3-year-old trotting colts & geldings on Friday (June 9).

Cecil Hanover (Chapter Seven,Ake Svanstedt) is gate-to-wire winner in the $57,000 first division for colts & geldings.

Cecil Hanover went straight to the front and led to the first quarter in :27.1.  He slowed things down with a :30.1 second quarter to be first to the half in :57.2.  Kilmister (Brian Sears) was first to make a move going first-up down the backstretch.  Cecil Hanover breezed to three-quarters in 1:25.2.

As they reached the stretch Cecil Hanover made it a race for second getting the win in 1:52.4.  Sevecheetah (Joe Bongiorno) was second best.  Kilmister had to settle for third.

Cecil Hanover is a 3-year-old gelding.  Owned by trainer Svanstedt with SRF Stable and Midnight Sun.  He is two for two this season.  That was career win number three.

Crown (Chapter Seven, Brian Sears) is awarded the victory in the $57,000 colts & geldings second division.

Chapercraz (Joe Bongiorno) was first to the quarter in :27-3 and first to the half in :56.1.  He continued to show the way down the backstretch and led to three-quarters in 1:24.2.

As they went around the final turn Crown ($7.10) came up to challenge.  Chapercraz and Crown battled shoulder to shoulder all the way down the stretch.  Chapercraz got their first by a nose but was disqualified for a pylon infraction and placed second.  Crown got the win in a lifetime best of 1:52.4.  You Got It (Tyler Buter) finished third best.

Crown is a colt.  He is owned by the SRF Stable and trained by Marcus Melander.  It was his first win in 2023.  He now has five career victories.

Instagram Model ($2.20) is first to the quarter in :28.2.  She used a :29.0 second quarter to be first to the half in :57.2.  She glided to three-quarters in 1:26.0.

As they reached the stretch second place finisher Usosweet Blue Chip (Marcus Miller) went all out but Instagram Model was too strong and won in 1:54.1.  On The House (Ake Svanstedt) finished third.

Instagram Model is a filly.  She is owned by R Lynn Curry and trained by Annie Stoebe.  It was her first win this season and her sixth career victory.

Kayleigh S (Brian Sears) got the first call but Royal Filly (Tyler Buter) got by and led to the quarter in :27.2.  She used a :28.3 second quarter to be first to the half in :56.0.  Gigi Hanover (Ake Svanstedt) came first-up to challenge and took a short lead to three-quarters in 1:24.1.

As they made the turn for home Sadie Hanover ($2.80) came flying like she was shot out of a cannon and blew right on by to win in a lifetime best of 1:52.4.  Gigi Hanover had to settle for second.  Kayleigh S was third.

SADIE HANOVER REPLAY

Sadie Hanover is a filly.  She is trained by Linda Toscano for owners Bay’s Stable, Blue Ridge Stable, C. Iannacone, and G. Coco.  She is four for four in 2023.  She now owns five career victories.

Tioga Downs returns to live racing on Saturday (June 10) with a 13-race card starting at 6:15 p.m.
