Merton wins five at Tioga

Driver Mike Merton won five of the seven races that were contested at Tioga Downs on Friday (Aug. 4) including the $11,500 featured harness racing trot with Andover Contessa (Andover Hall).

In the feature Andover Contessa ($6.70) went straight to the front and led to the quarter in :28.0.  She used a :29.3 second quarter to be first to the half in :57.3.  She breezed to three-quarters in 1:25.2.

As they reached the stretch Andover Contessa made it a race for second and won easily in a lifetime best of 1:53.3.

Believer (Ridge Warren) was second best.  Creekside Pete (Corey Braden) finished third.

ANDOVER CONTESSA REPLAY

Andover Contessa is a 6-year-old mare trained by Jake Huff for owners Rosalia Huff and Beauty Bridle Racing Stable. It was her sixth win this season and her 22^nd career victory.

Merton got his other wins with Alta Madeira N ($2.10), Flashy Swan ($5.40), Tantalize Bluechip ($5.40), and Can’t Say No ($2.70).
