Tioga Downs plays host to two harness racing divisions of the New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) for 2-year-old pacing colts & geldings on Saturday (September 2).
Avenger Force (Matt Kakaley, Huntsville-Apple Delight) is the 8-5 morning line favorite in the $51,500 first division. Travis Alexander trains the colt. He has a win and two seconds in four lifetime starts. He owns a NYSS win at Monticello.
His main threat appears to be the Mark Capone trained Vandiemen Bluechip (Jason Bartlett, Huntsville-Pepperment Patti). The gelding is the 5-2 morning line second choice. He has two wins including a NYSS win at Yonkers his last time out.
Boston Rocks (Boston Red Rocks-Scirocco Sarah, Jason Bartlett) is the 6-5 morning line favorite in the $51,500 second division. The colt is trained by Michael Deters. His three NYSS wins were at Batavia, Monticello, and Buffalo.
The 3-2 second choice Huntingforchrome (Huntsville-All On Top Hanover, Tyler Buter) is expected to be his main rival. Jennifer Bongiorno trains the gelding. His NYSS wins have come at Vernon Downs and Saratoga. He also owns a Kindergarten series win at the Meadowlands.
The 11-race card starts at 6:15 p.m.
