Tioga feature trot to Believer

Believer (Cantab Hall) and harness racing driver Ridge Warren take the $10,000 featured trot at Tioga Downs on Saturday (June 1).

Heavens Pic (Aaron Byron) led to the quarter in :27.4.  Believer ($8.20) came first-up to take control with a lap to go.  He led to the half in :57.4.  Conrad Dipoggio It (Mike Merton) was first to make a move but couldn’t get close to Believer.  Believer led to three-quarters in 1:26.3.

As they reached the stretch second place finisher Heavens Pic came all out after the lead but Believer was too strong and won in 1:57.0.  Makadushin N Cheez (Bruce Aldrich Jr.) finished third.

Believer is a 6-year-old gelding trained by Randy Taft for owners Mali Norbye and Arnold Witkin.  It was his third win this season.  He now has 25 career wins.

Ridge Warren had a driving hat trick.  Braxten Boyd had a driving double.

Live racing returns to Tioga Downs on Sunday (June 2) with a 15-race card featuring New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) 3-year-old pacing fillies starting at 1 p.m.
